Waiting on Wednesday- The Dark Divine by Bree Despain

We are so excited for this weeks W.O.W. as we're exciting to announce that Mundie Moms is 1 of 20 "street teams" who Bree has chosen to help promote she new book The Dark Divine, which will be released Dec. 22nd, 2009 by EgmontUSA. We are very excited as that means we'll be having some give aways!!! We definitely love giving aways.

First, if you've not heard about The Dark Divine, you'll be hooked by reading the first chapter here:

***Book trailer coming soon*** ARCS were just sent out and they wanted to wait till ARCs were out to put the book trailer up.

Summary:

A prodigal son

A dangerous love

A deadly secret . . .

I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

I was hooked after I read the first 17 pages on her site (http://www.breedespain.com) and I'm dying to read more. I've not even read the whole book yet and I'm already excited for the sequel that Bree's writing!

We're excited to announce that we'll be having a LIVE CHAT with Bree on Dec. 21st!! We'll be throwing a PreLaunch Chat Party *more details TBA soon* We'll also be posting our reviews soon.

In the mean time, you can pre-order your copy here:

Austin Teen Book Festival Oct. 24th, 2009

*Libba Bray opening up the Book Festival*
Sorry, we're a little behind on posting the fun adventures we had attending the book festival.
Chairman Meow and I had a chance to go to the Austin Teen Book Festival located at Westlake High School. Libba Bray was the key note speaker, advertising her new book 'Going Bovine'. It all started with a garden gnome, the Book People publicist, who was dressed up as Balder, the God-gnome from the book. Libba delivered a hilariously heartwarming and highly accessible speech that spoke to the high schoolers and reminded us older folk of what we gladly left behind.

After that, we broke into panels, Jennifer and I went (or should I say ran) to the Fantasy panel featuring
Rick Yancey, Lisa McMann Justine Larbalestier and Libba Bray (L-R, as seen in panel picture). As our past experience with author panels, these four were hysterical as well. They played off each other and gave interesting and highly entertaining answers ranging from what cookies they would give their characters to the numbers of times they were rejected before getting published (20 years for two of them!)
Afterwards we snuck our way up to Lisa McMann and Libba Bray. Lisa was totally cool and really excited to meet us! We were very excited to meet her. I was so excited to talk to her about Gone, which I had received the day before. I was even more excited when she told me I was the first one to give her a review of Gone. Please note, it was very vague as people were around and we couldn't talk in detail about it. It was still exciting. She signed some stuff for giveaways on Mundies! She was even cool enough to take pictures with us!! Libba Bray was really excited to meet us and gave us her contact info so we could set her up on Mundies! (We need that little hyper smile over here...). She wanted to know if we could be the Gemma Moms for her and of course we said yes.

We're looking forward to next year and thank you Lisa and Libba for taking the time to talk to us!!

I honestly don't think we've laughed so much before. This panel was hilarious. Libba had all of us laughing till our sides hurt when she opened the festival. Thank you to The Book People and everyone who put together this free festival!
